8 Dry Lip Remedies We’re Loving This Summer

The summer sun is lovely, but it can wreak havoc on your skin, hair, and lips. If you’re in the pool a lot, it’s likely that you’ll struggle with dry skin. All that water, chlorine, sun, water, repeat – and the damage can happen. But many of us slather on sunscreen and then cream after a shower. KMH is here to remind you don’t forget about those kissable but sun drenched lips!

Did you know your lips could get “crows feet” from being too dry? So what are some tips for keeping those dry lips in tip top shape this summer?

#1: No lip licking!

We know there’s probably strawberry daiquiri on them, but just stop with the lip licking! When your lips are dry it’s only natural to want to lick them to moisten them. Instead pick up Kiss Me Honey Cooling Mint Lip Balm to coat your lips in antioxidants and vitamins.

#2: You’re dehydrated

How do we know? Because your lips are super dry, right? Your body needs about four 8-ounce glasses of water everyday, at minimum. When you’re in the summer sun, you should increase that amount, too. Try to select foods that have a high water content, like watermelon, lettuce, cucumbers, oranges, apples, and grapes. Here’s a tip – try increasing the size of the glass you normally use in order to train yourself to drink more.

#3: Skip salicylic acid

Most commercial lip balms have this chemical, which has it’s own page on WebMD (ew). That’s because salicylic acid is used to treat warts. Note the word “acid” in the title? While it does increase the amount of moisture in the skin, which is why it’s in lip-gloss, it is not something that I would like to use on my lips, and you shouldn’t either. Try Kiss My Honey Juicy Pineapple instead – it’s full of organic natural ingredients and not a single “salicylic” anywhere.

#4: Use lip balm

Especially when you’re out in the sun. Just in time for summer, KMH is releasing a new Raspberry tinted lip balm. You can read more about it here.

#5: Exfoliate

Shed those dead cells with the Kiss My Honey Exfoliating Lip Polish in cool mint. Simply rub it on those tired, dry lips, wait one minute, rinse, and then apply a KMH lip balms. You will be amazed.

#6: Stay healthy

Lip balms and other makeup products are full of harsh chemicals and unnatural ingredients. If you haven’t watched “The Story of Cosmetics,” now is the time!  The products in your bathroom have chemicals that are linked to cancer. Look for all-natural, chemical free products, like the entire Kiss Me Honey line of products.

#7: Stay shady

You’re not going to like this one – but stay out of direct sun whenever possible. If you are in the sun, wear a hat to shad your face.

#8: Avoid lipstick!

Avoid makeup products and lipsticks, whose chemicals can dry out the lips. Instead, go for the latest in Kiss My Honey products for kissable-smooth lips all summer long.
